For this project, I wanted to expand my skills in Unreal Engine and to utilise its vast capabilities by developing a realistic environment based around a fishing shack. Inspiration and research came from fishing huts, cabins and large scale mountains/river landscapes. The aim of this project was to tell a story of self sufficiency, reliance on available resources and the ability to survive in a secluded wilderness.
My tools of choice were Maya, Blender and Zbrush for all modelling, sculpting and extensive detailing. Substance Painter was used for baking and texturing. Unreal Engine was used for set dressing and for developing the environment. And lastly, Photoshop was used for all of the editing and final compositions for this project. I utilised GPU rendering which saved me time and allowed me to focus more on creating and iterating the scene. Foliage and vegetation not made by me and was used from the Epic Games marketplace.
